Director’s Statement

This isn’t a culture war movie about gender identity. Rather, this film looks at how imperfect people stumble through it when it’s part of their own lives.

Most families who face gender identity issues have to navigate anger, love, confusion, grief, understanding, misunderstanding, shame, doubt, worry, and more. Most get things wrong. Most make mistakes with their words and their actions. And most - even the ones doing shitty things - come from a place of love. That is what this film reflects: A portrait of how to love your kid for who they are and how to become the parent they need you to be.
